Wyckham Porteous

...a note from the exec producer:
This was a great moment for me, so please bear with.
I sent an unmixed version of Looking For Ground,
which I was already considering a masterpiece,
to it's most meaningful test, that being my brother
David, in Zionsville Indiana, a Literature prof,
and not particularly a music guy. But he does know his stuff.
With just a hint of the socialist there in his veins,
and a bit of the lover in mine,
I can't help but wait for,
and always honor, his opinions.
He responded more quickly than usual, and he was excited.
He needed help in pronouncing the name, but he thought
this guy was the best thing he'd heard in at least five years.
When the record was released,
I left a message for Eric Fidler at the Associated Press
in Chicago to let him know something good was
on it's way to his mailbox. And in the message
I included a teaser, that thing my brother had said.
A couple of days later I landed
this very concise phone message from Eric:
"Got the Wyckham Porteous CD,
as well as your message.
They leave me with only one question....
What WAS IT
your brother heard 5 years ago
that was better than this?"
